About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Temporary Building Maintenance Specialist to join our operations team for 9 weeks. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in supporting the day-to-day management and maintenance of our housing properties.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintenance & Repairs: Oversee and coordinate maintenance tasks for residential properties, including routine repairs and emergency call-outs.
  • Project Management: Assist in the planning, delivery, and monitoring of capital works and improvement projects.
  • Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure all work complies with relevant health and safety regulations, as well as industry standards.
  • Vendor Management: Liaise with contractors and suppliers, ensuring that work is completed to required standards and within budget.
  • Technical Support: Provide technical guidance and support to the housing management team on issues relating to building maintenance, infrastructure, and utilities.
  • Reporting & Documentation: Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and project activities. Prepare reports and provide updates to senior management on project progress.
  • Tenant Support: Respond to tenant queries and issues related to property maintenance, ensuring prompt and efficient resolutions.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Previous experience in building maintenance, construction, or a technical officer role (ideally in the social housing or not-for-profit sector).
  • Knowledge of relevant health and safety regulations and building compliance standards.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Good understanding of construction techniques, building materials, and systems (e.g., plumbing, electrical, HVAC).
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite and maintenance management software (preferably).
  • Full Australian driving license (if required for site visits).

Estimated Salary: AU$65,000 - AU$85,000 per annum (dependent on experience), plus superannuation and benefits.
