Railway Infrastructure Design Manager

As a seasoned design professional, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping Queensland Rail's future. We're seeking an experienced Design Manager to lead our Strategic Projects, Property, and Portfolio team in the design development process for the Station Transformation Accessibility Regional (STARR) program.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Leading a team of design managers, overseeing the design development process for multiple projects, and ensuring compliance with Queensland Rail's design management and project management framework.
- Building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, including DTMR, local governments, and community groups, to facilitate effective communication and collaboration.
- Delivering expert technical design leadership and guidance to project teams, managing processes to meet established targets and KPIs, and ensuring successful program delivery.
- Providing technical leadership in the asset handover framework and process, ensuring that Queensland Rail's requirements are met, and acting as the initial Quality Gate reviewing design deliverables against Queensland Rail's standards and specifications.
- Resolving design issues, RFIs, derogations, non-conformances, and providing assistance to the Commercial Manager in responding to technical-related commercial letters.
- Ensuring timely responses to technical submissions and satisfying Queensland Rail's requirements.
Requirements
We're looking for a candidate with:
- A minimum of 10 years of design management experience in Engineering, Architecture, or Construction Management related disciplines.
- Knowledge and experience in the design management and delivery of public infrastructure projects, particularly associated with railway infrastructure.
- Experience leading multidisciplinary project-based teams and externally leading design and delivery professionals.
- Strong knowledge of transport infrastructure design obligations, operations, construction, maintenance, and safety.
- High-level influencing, interpersonal, communication, and consultation skills.
