Strategic Philanthropy Leader

This role is for a dynamic leader who can drive transformative change through strategic philanthropy. The successful candidate will oversee the university's major gifts program and team, executing fundraising plans that foster long-term growth.

The Strategic Manager, Philanthropy will collaborate closely with senior leaders, academic staff, and external stakeholders to develop impactful giving opportunities that directly support the university's mission. They will also personally manage a portfolio of significant donors and prospects, crafting tailored engagement and cultivation plans to secure high-value contributions.

  • Main Responsibilities:
  • Develop and execute the university's national philanthropy strategy, aligned with the institution's strategic priorities.
  • Lead and mentor a high-performing team of fundraising professionals to meet income and engagement goals.
  • Manage a personal portfolio of major donors and prospects, nurturing meaningful relationships and securing significant philanthropic investments.
  • Partner with faculties, institutes, and senior university stakeholders to create compelling funding propositions and identify new donor opportunities.
  • Represent the university professionally at high-profile donor events and external engagements.

Your Expertise and Attributes:

  • Substantial experience in major gift fundraising, with a proven track record of securing substantial gifts and leading high-performing teams.
  • Strategic leadership capabilities within complex organizations, ideally in higher education, health, or social impact sectors.
  • Exceptional relationship-building skills with the ability to engage, influence, and inspire senior stakeholders, donors, and philanthropic partners.
  • Deep understanding of donor engagement lifecycles, gift cultivation, and proposal development.
  • Proven ability to manage resources, drive performance, and foster a culture of excellence and accountability.
  • Outstanding communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to represent the university's mission with authenticity and impact.
