Job Description

Brisbane Central State School is seeking a dedicated and hands-on Schools Officer to maintain the school environment. The role involves managing facilities including buildings, environment, and classrooms. The position is temporary and open to Expressions of Interest.

The successful candidate will have experience in grounds and facilities maintenance and general school operations. They must be able to manage facilities, maintain a safe work environment, and ensure compliance with workplace health and safety requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Perform day-to-day activities such as delivering and collecting mail/parcels, recording messages, printing and photocopying, and preparing classrooms for examinations or assemblies.
  • Assist with security duties, including operating and maintaining school security systems, handling banking tasks, and locking/unlocking buildings within core hours.
  • Assist with maintenance duties such as clearing drains and gutters, waste collection, cleaning outside normal hours, coordinating rubbish removal, and supporting significant events.
  • Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety requirements, maintain a safe work environment, and manage chemical, fertiliser, and fuel storage.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Experience in grounds and facilities maintenance and general school operations.
  • Ability to manage facilities, maintain a safe work environment, and ensure compliance with workplace health and safety requirements.
  • Knowledge of workplace health and safety requirements and safe storage/handling of chemicals and fuels.
