Lead User Interface Programmer

At Big Ant Studios in Melbourne, we are seeking a skilled and experienced UI Programmer to join our team.

Job Description:

Key responsibilities of the position include collaborating with lead engineers to develop user interface features and systems, working closely with designers to deliver engaging user experiences, creating and maintaining technical documentation, as well as self-managing programming tasks and coordinating with production teams. Additionally, you will be responsible for reviewing user interfaces and optimising performance and resource utilisation.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement cutting-edge user interfaces
  • Develop and maintain high-quality, efficient, and scalable codebases
  • Contribute to the development of project-wide technical documentation
  • Self-manage programming tasks and coordinate with production teams
  • Review user interfaces and optimise performance and resource utilisation
Requirements:
  • Minimum 2 years experience as a UI engineer on shipped games for PS4, PS3, Xbox One, 360, PC, or MacOS
  • Proficiency in C++ programming language
  • Bachelor's degree in software engineering, computer science, or equivalent
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience with WPF, Lua, and Python scripting languages
  • Good debugging skills
  • Knowledge of performance/memory constraints of building game UI required
Desirable Skills:
  • Proficiency in C# programming language
  • Working knowledge of NoesisGUI and other UI development tools such as QT
  • Experience with current generation consoles (PS4, Xbox One)
  • Design patterns (MVC/MVVM)
