Job Title: Senior Legal Expert

Job Description:

The Senior Legal Expert plays a crucial role in providing timely and strategic legal advice to the executive management team. This position involves analysing complex legal issues, developing effective solutions, and implementing them to achieve organisational goals.

  • Providing high-level legal advice on diverse and complex matters related to court operations and management.
  • Supporting the Chief Justice and CEO/PR in exercising their statutory duties and day-to-day management of the courts.
  • Collaborating with the Director of Legal and Integrity to manage court processes efficiently, complying with statutory and administrative guidelines.
Key Responsibilities:

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and qualifications:

  • Demonstrated ability to provide legal advice and strategies for complex and sensitive matters.
  • Well-developed oral and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with judges, staff, and external legal practitioners.
  • Broad understanding of federal civil jurisdictions and relevant legislation, or the capacity to acquire this understanding.
  • A demonstrated commitment to upholding the Australian Public Service (APS) Values, adhering to the APS Code of Conduct, and ensuring compliance with workplace diversity and work health and safety principles.
