The Lead Infrastructure SME plays a critical role in providing expert technical guidance across one or more infrastructure domains, translating functional requirements into solutions and delivering both CAPEX and OPEX initiatives.
This role involves leading design and architectural documentation, mentoring engineers and supporting platform owners to ensure successful delivery. Collaboration with internal teams such as Data Centre and Application teams as well as external vendors is required.
Key Responsibilities
- Driving innovation through the implementation of new technologies and processes
- Performing peer reviews to ensure high-quality deliverables
- Contributing to platform roadmaps to inform strategic decision-making
- Ensuring smooth service transitions by coordinating with cross-functional teams
- Supporting integration design to ensure seamless interactions between systems
- Providing on-the-job training and mentorship to technical teams
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Strong technical expertise across infrastructure domains, including blade servers, operating systems, multi-tier storage, backup systems, clustering, virtualisation tools, scripting and automation
- Hands-on experience with core technologies, particularly the VMware stack, VRA and VRO specifications and deploying VRA instances and blueprints
- Proficiency in Python and Java scripting as well as experience managing integrations in VRA/VRO environments and a solid understanding of dynamic types within VRO deployments
- Proactive and innovative mindset with the ability to lead and influence across the organisation and respond effectively in dynamic environments
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills familiarity with CI/CD pipelines container technologies and business continuity practices
- Commitment to safety and compliance with organisational policies
