Music and Arts Research Fellow

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to drive our agenda on the impact of music and arts on individuals and communities. As a Senior Research and Engagement Fellow, you will play a crucial role in developing and implementing research strategies in music and health that address community needs.

About the Role
  • You will lead engagement initiatives connecting new communities with the Conservatorium through programs, short courses, and professional development.
  • Bld partnerships with First Nations communities, health professionals, educators, and regional partners.
  • Document and share the impact of music and arts on creating healthier, more connected communities.

This is a 2-year, grant-funded position based at our Newcastle City Campus on Awabakal land. The role is designed to strengthen the visibility and reach of music and arts research and create new opportunities for partnership and collaboration.

About You

You are an established or emerging leader in music, able to move fluidly between research, practice, and community engagement. You may have built your profile through academic publications, non-traditional research outputs, innovative practice-based projects, or impactful community partnerships.

What We're Looking For
  • A doctoral qualification in music (or related field).
  • A strong track record in community-engaged, applied, or socially impactful music scholarship.
  • Skills in creating engaging, responsive learning experiences.
  • Strong communication skills and a commitment to inclusive, culturally responsive practice.
  • The ability to set engagement priorities, foster collaborations, and generate measurable impact.
