Senior Operations Officer Role Overview

This role offers a unique opportunity to join a team in the Illawarra region, where you will be responsible for the safe operation and maintenance of water resource recovery assets.

As a Senior Operations Officer, you will work closely with the Production Manager to deliver high-quality water resource recovery services to local communities. The successful candidate will be based in the Illawarra Hub, working at sites across the region.

  • Job Summary: To provide leadership and guidance to the team, ensuring the best practice safe operation and maintenance of water resource recovery assets, while protecting the environment and meeting customer expectations.

The ideal candidate will have a trade qualification (electrician/instrumentation specialist or mechanical) or qualifications in engineering/science or equivalent experience. Additionally, they should possess strong communication skills, computer literacy, and the ability to commit to a rotating roster including day shifts, after-hours standby, and weekend duties.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Provide technical guidance and support to the team by mentoring, coaching, and identifying areas for performance improvement.
  2. Ensure the safe operation and maintenance of water resource recovery assets, adhering to health and safety requirements, quality management protocols, and incident response frameworks.
  3. Conduct daily plant performance testing and adjust process control parameters as needed.
  4. Execute on-site process and asset checks using available systems, processes, and procedures.
  5. Manage onsite safety and works coordination through the implementation of safety procedures, including Permit to Work, Lock Out Tag and Flow Isolation/Flow Management.
  6. Participate in projects associated with the plant, including condition assessments, project prioritization, design reviews, and working closely with project teams once mobilized onsite.
  7. Collaborate with the maintenance provider to ensure timely completion of work orders, including breakdown, corrective, and preventative maintenance.
