Child Protection Counsellor

This is a full-time role working as part of the Child Protection Counselling Service within a network focused on Children, Young People and Families.

About the Role

As a Child Protection Counsellor, you will provide therapy, care coordination, and advocacy to families experiencing child protection concerns. You will work alongside a team to enhance child safety, strengthen parenting capacity, and support placement stability, restoration, and family preservation.

The service meets families in their own communities - working together to keep children safe and support recovery from trauma.

You will be based in a central location with access to professional development through strong connections with colleagues across the district.

Access to training, regular supervision (individual and group), and peer support ensures you continue to grow and refine your skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide therapy, care coordination, and advocacy to families experiencing child protection concerns.
  • Work with vulnerable families who have experienced trauma, supporting them to build resilience and strength.
  • Develop and implement individualised plans for families, addressing their unique needs and circumstances.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including social workers and health professionals.
Requirements
  • Hold tertiary qualifications and relevant experience in Social Work or Psychology.
  • Be eligible to drive and willing and able to travel for work purposes.

This position requires compliance with NSW Health policy directive PD2024_015: Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination against Specified Infectious Diseases prior to offer.
