Child Family Support Specialist

About the Role
This is a permanent, full-time position based at our office. As a key member of the team, you will work collaboratively with children, young people, their families, and Foster Carers, promoting strengths and fostering respect.
The successful candidate will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to work as part of a team and independently in the provision of proactive and responsive casework.
They will also possess a working knowledge of legislation, policies and standards relevant to child protection, statutory out-of-home-care, permanency support program and child safe organisations.
Responsibilities and Requirements
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work with diverse populations including First Nation people and those from CALD backgrounds.
- Understanding of child development theories, research and best practice.
- Demonstrated ability to assess and investigate safety, risk and permanency concerns for children and young people.
- Able to maintain accurate and timely records for reporting and information sharing.
- Capacity to contribute to continuous learning, professional networks and relationships through meetings and other information sharing activities.
- Tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Psychology or related field with commitment to ongoing professional development.
