Child and Family Health Psychologist

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Child and Family Health Psychologist to join our multidisciplinary team, delivering high-quality psychological assessments, interventions, and consultations for children aged 0–12.


This specialist role focuses on supporting preschool-aged children as they prepare for their transition to school, offering screening, intake, assessment, and therapy in a nurturing and family-centred environment. You'll work closely with children, families, and their support networks to promote emotional wellbeing, developmental progress, and positive outcomes during these formative years.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver evidence-based psychological assessments, interventions, and consultation services to consumers within Primary and Community Health.
  • Support the implementation of the Brighter Beginnings preschool health and development screening and provide assessment, early intervention, capacity building, and direct care pathways for children in South Western Sydney Local Health District.
  • Participate in the evaluation of clinical outcomes of services and assist in the development and provision of education and training programs.
  • Supervise psychologists and other disciplines working within the local health district according to organisational needs.

Your Role and Responsibilities

As a Child and Family Health Psychologist, you will be responsible for:

  • Working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to improve patient/consumer outcomes for vulnerable or at-risk families.
  • Communicating effectively with different stakeholders and ensuring quality improvement in service delivery.
  • Developing and implementing individualised care plans that meet the unique needs of each child and family.

Requirements
  • Full registration as a Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia and completion of a four-year sequence of accredited undergraduate study in the discipline of psychology (or equivalent completed overseas).
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with children, families, and healthcare professionals.
  • Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and priorities, with a focus on delivering high-quality services to consumers.
  • Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2).
