About the Role

BMD Constructions, a leading integrated engineering and construction company, is seeking a skilled Workshop Supervisor to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day activities of our workshop and laydown yard, ensuring the efficient allocation of resources and the delivery of high-quality outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Workshop Management: Oversee the allocation of jobs, workflow, and labor scheduling within the workshop and laydown yard.
  • Maintenance Coordination: Manage and oversee preventative, scheduled, and emergency maintenance for light and heavy vehicles, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal performance.
  • Supply Chain Management: Assist office staff with quoting, purchasing, and ordering of materials and supplies, ensuring timely delivery and cost-effectiveness.
  • Asset Management: Monitor and report on the scheduled and unscheduled downtime of key pieces of machinery and plant, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.
  • Team Development: Foster a culture of teamwork and continuous learning, developing a skilled group of personnel to achieve exceptional quality outcomes.
Requirements
  • Relevant Trade Qualifications: Possess relevant trade qualifications and certifications.
  • Heavy Equipment Knowledge: Have in-depth understanding of various heavy earthmoving machinery and ancillary plant.
  • Safety and Regulatory Compliance: Demonstrate extensive knowledge of safety and mining regulations, ensuring compliance and a safe working environment.
  • Supervisory Experience: Proven experience in a supervisory capacity, with the ability to motivate and lead a team.
  • Mechanical Knowledge: Possess mechanical knowledge to understand equipment capabilities, maintenance scheduling, and preventative maintenance methods.
  • Health, Safety, and Environmental Commitment: Demonstrate a strong commitment to health, safety, environmental, and quality outcomes, embedding this commitment in all aspects of the role.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Certificate III in Engineering: Possess a Certificate III in Engineering or equivalent.
  • LV or HV Trade Qualified: Be LV or HV trade qualified or have equivalent experience.
