Job Title: Theatre Nurse/Operating Theatre Manager

This role is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned theatre nurse to take on a leadership position in a busy operating theatre environment. As the lead nurse, you will be responsible for managing nursing services within the theatre and recovery area.

Key responsibilities include coordinating the day-to-day functioning of the theatre, overseeing staff allocation and rotation, and driving the Infection Control program. You will also be responsible for maintaining medical supplies and stock, providing a communication link between surgeons and nursing staff, and instigating training for new nursing staff.

The ideal candidate will have proven experience working in a theatre setting, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and strong interpersonal and people management skills. They will also have the ability to collaborate effectively with medical specialists and knowledge of accreditation and quality policies and procedures.

Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate the nursing services within the operating theatre and recovery of Hamilton House Day Surgery.
  • Oversee the management of the operating theatre, staff allocation, rotation, direction, and day-to-day functioning of the theatre.
  • Oversee the Infection Control program.
  • Oversee the CSSD and ensure reprocessing of instruments follows current codes of practice.
  • Oversee all sectors of the patient pathway from clinical admission to discharge.
  • Scrub for Surgeon and manage operating lists.
  • Maintain medical supplies and stock.
  • Provide a communication link between the Surgeon/Medical Director and nursing staff.
  • Instigate training for new nursing staff.
Qualifications:
  • Full registration with AHPRA.
  • Proven theatre and management experience.
  • Experience working in the Private Hospital sector.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and people management skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with medical specialists.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Accreditation/Quality Policies and Procedures.
