Advisor Opportunity

The Queensland Government is seeking an experienced Advisor to provide high-quality decision-making in assessments, including legal research, analysis and writing, and engagement with applicants and service providers.

This role will suit a client-focused individual with experience in working within a regulatory or compliance setting that benefits vulnerable members of the community.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Effectively manage and action a case load of files that require risk assessments in accordance with the requirements of Part 5 of the Disability Services Act.
  2. Undertake risk assessments and other activities, under the relevant legislation and with reference to relevant precedent.
  3. Make evidence-based recommendations to senior management on screening and assessment outcomes.
  4. Communicate assessment decisions to applicants and service providers in a clear and timely way.
  5. Prepare high-quality reports, briefs, and other documents.
  6. Provide guidance and support to less senior staff in relation to departmental policies and procedures, guidelines, and systems.
Requirements:
  • Demonstrated experience working in a similar role within Government.
  • Must have strong communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Criminal Law background highly regarded.
  • Demonstrated experience working within disability services or safeguard environments will be highly regarded.
  • Must be eligible to work in Australia.
