Job Description

As a Pre-Natal Child Protection Caseworker in the New England region, you will play a vital role in supporting families and ensuring the safety and wellbeing of children. This is a challenging yet rewarding position that requires empathy, resilience, and strong communication skills.

You will work collaboratively with other agencies, including NSW Health, to assess and investigate reports of safety concerns surrounding children or young people. Your primary focus will be on supporting expectant parents during pregnancy to reduce risks and help them build skills and prepare them to keep their baby safely in their care.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Responding to reports of safety concerns surrounding children or young people;
  • Assessing and investigating reports, and developing safety plans to mitigate risks;
  • Supporting expectant parents during pregnancy, including providing education and guidance on safe parenting practices;
  • Working collaboratively with NSW Health and other agencies to ensure comprehensive support for families;
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, including NSW Health staff and other community partners;

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess:

  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Social Work, Social Science, Welfare or related discipline;
  • Experience working in child protection or a related field, preferably with NSW Health;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with ability to think critically and make sound judgments;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to build rapport with diverse groups and individuals;
  • A valid driver's licence and willingness to travel throughout the New England region.
