Position Overview
Key Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Operations Manager and the CEO Director, the Oceanographic Technician will be responsible for:
- Maintaining workshop inventory by tracking supplies and tools; ensuring timely orders and receipt verification.
- Conducting tests on scientific instruments both in the workshop and in the field.
- Ordering project consumables and instrumentation efficiently.
- Monitoring deliveries and confirming safe receipt of equipment.
- Assisting in the preparation of project documentation and organizing shipments for transport to work sites.
- Traveling to remote locations for instrument configuration and setting up oceanographic moorings.
- Deploying and retrieving moorings from vessels while documenting these processes.
- Coordinating with client representatives and vessel crews at work sites.
- Ensuring thorough documentation of all activities to meet quality standards.
- Upholding a safe working environment by adhering to company and client regulations.
- Enhancing job knowledge through training opportunities, including reviewing technical publications.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
A combination of education and experience is required: a minimum of a 3-year degree or diploma in a scientific or engineering field, along with a technical understanding of instrumentation. Familiarity with various oceanographic instruments is advantageous.
Work Environment
This role is primarily office-based with some warehouse duties, utilizing computers and office equipment. Standard working hours are scheduled during weekdays, but the position may require travel to remote sites and fieldwork from vessels. Flexibility in working hours is essential to accommodate specific job requirements and support clients across different time zones.
Physical Requirements
Fieldwork may be physically demanding. Candidates must maintain a valid Offshore Medical Certificate and complete Offshore Survival Training, with costs covered by the company.

Travel Requirements
This position involves local, national, and potentially international travel, including occasional weekend commitments. Out-of-town travel is estimated to be up to 10% of the annual workdays.
