Position Summary:
The Oceanographic Technician will work under the guidance of the Operations Manager and the CEO Director. The primary responsibilities include:

  • Managing workshop inventory and ensuring tools are readily available.
  • Conducting tests on scientific instruments both in the workshop and in the field.
  • Ordering project supplies and ensuring timely delivery.
  • Monitoring shipments and confirming safe receipt of materials.
  • Assisting in the preparation of project documentation and packaging for transport.
  • Traveling to remote locations for instrument setup and oceanographic mooring assembly.
  • Deploying and retrieving moorings from vessels while documenting the process.
  • Collaborating with client representatives and vessel crews on-site.
  • Maintaining thorough documentation to meet quality standards.
  • Ensuring a safe working environment by adhering to relevant codes and regulations.
  • Enhancing job knowledge through training and reviewing technical materials.

Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess a combination of education and experience, including a minimum of a 3-year degree or diploma in a scientific or engineering field, along with a technical understanding of instrumentation. Familiarity with various oceanographic instruments is advantageous.

Work Environment:
This role primarily involves office and warehouse tasks, utilizing computers and standard office equipment. Regular working hours are established, with potential for fieldwork requiring travel to remote sites and varying hours to accommodate project needs.

Physical Requirements:
Fieldwork may be physically demanding, necessitating a valid Offshore Medical Certificate and completion of Offshore Survival Training, which will be covered by the company.
