Job Title

Key Responsibilities
  1. Administer race day operations.
  2. Start or further your sports administration career in harness racing.
  3. Oversee the conduct of race meetings to ensure fairness, safety, and compliance with rules and policies.
  4. Display strong race-reading skills, including the ability to analyse videos, assess interference or tactics, and make sound judgements.
  5. Conduct inquiries into race day incidents and other matters, providing clear and consistent decisions.
  6. Attend race meetings, inquiries, and appeals, performing duties as empowered under the Australian Harness Racing Rules and Victorian Local Rules.
  7. Complete all race day documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
Non-Race Day Duties
  1. Ensure the secure handling and delivery of samples for prohibited substance testing.
  2. Conduct inquiries and stable inspections as required, preparing and presenting evidence in a professional manner.
  3. Provide evidence at appeals hearings and other proceedings when necessary.
About YouEssential Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • Demonstrated ability to efficiently start harness races, including both mobile and standing start races, in accordance with rules and procedures.
  • Proficiency in computer literacy, including demonstrated ability to use Microsoft Office applications for reporting, documentation, and communication.
  • Current motor vehicle driver's licence.
Desirable Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • Sound understanding of harness racing industry operational environment.
  • Practical and theoretical equine knowledge, with an understanding of standardbred horses and harness gear.
  • Experience working in, or exposure to, a stewarding environment.
