Job Title: Regional Logistics Operations Director

Salary:$120,000 - $180,000 per annum

Job Description

The Regional Logistics Operations Director will play a critical role in driving a safety-first culture in Logistics through leadership, risk management, and governance activities. This includes identifying operational efficiencies, planning, and implementing safety and compliance initiatives with staff and suppliers, while developing a sustainable, cost-effective logistics network.

This role oversees operational activities and process improvements to ensure the safe, timely, and sustainable delivery of News Corp Australia publications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contractor Management: Work with GM Logistics and procurement to develop and implement contract strategies, monitor supplier performance, and initiate corrective action as needed.
  • Operational: Accountable for delivering logistics services in the Southern Region and ensuring the safe and timely delivery of logistics services by 3rd party contractors in other areas.
  • People: Embed a safety culture within the Logistics team and assist in driving a customer-centric culture.
  • Safety: Drive a culture of safety focusing on Leadership, Risk Management, and Governance/Assurance.
  • Commercial: Work with GM Logistics to ensure expenditure levels are within organisational parameters and support the development and execution of the overall strategy for the region.
  • Customer & Stakeholders: Ensure service fulfilment by Logistics suppliers and drive the development of a customer-centric culture and approach to managing suppliers.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualifications in logistics, supply chain, legal, commerce, or significant senior experience in logistics management.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and leading a safety-first culture, including a detailed understanding of Chain of Responsibility and contractor management.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading and managing a team, with a proven record of effectively driving high-performance cultures.
  • Strong knowledge of logistical systems, processes, and best practices, with expertise in optimising transportation networks and depot operations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire teams to achieve goals and deliver exceptional outcomes.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and negotiation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex commercial arrangements and develop supplier management processes.
  • Proven ability to work independently, handle multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.
