Bushfire Risk Reduction Specialist

This is a leadership role that prioritizes community engagement, collaboration and adaptability. As a Community Based Bushfire Management Facilitator, you will play a key role in delivering place-based solutions to local bushfire challenges.
Key Responsibilities:- Apply community development principles to bushfire risk reduction—building relationships between communities, fire agencies and local governments.
- Empower communities to participate in bushfire management and drive action at the local level.
- Facilitate collaboration across agencies and communities to build shared understanding, strengthen community adaptive capacity and integrate community-based activities as part of regional planning.
We are looking for a candidate who can demonstrate the following skills and experience:
- Tertiary qualifications in social science/community development, and/or 3+ years equivalent experience in community development and place-based approaches.
- Demonstrated understanding and application of evidence-based community development, disaster resilience approaches, and community engagement practices and principles.
- Capacity to design, enable and facilitate strengths-based, community-centred practice that encourages collaborative learning and innovation with communities and relevant stakeholders.
