Job Description:

Join a dynamic team to work in the beautiful Auburn Botanic Gardens as a Horticulturalist. This role involves maintaining and enhancing the gardens, ensuring they remain a safe and enjoyable space for the community.

The successful applicant will have experience in horticulture and park maintenance, with a strong understanding of best practices in turf care, plant health, and site maintenance.

They will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and undertaking various tasks related to garden maintenance, including pruning, weeding, and irrigation management.

Additionally, the Horticulturalist will assist in preparing gardens for special events and ensure that all necessary equipment is in good working order.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about horticulture and customer service, and who is committed to delivering high-quality results in a fast-paced environment.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Relevant trade qualifications (e.g. Trade Based Apprenticeship, Certificate III in Parks and Gardens, Horticulture, Turf Management or Landscape Construction)
  • Demonstrated experience in park maintenance and parks infrastructure related issues
  • Current trends, industry best-practice and new developments relating to maintenance services and parks operations
  • Ability to plan, coordinate resources and undertake best practice horticultural maintenance and renovation activities
  • Experience in operating parks maintenance related small plant and equipment
  • Ability to deal in a positive and courteous manner with the public and other staff
  • Sound verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team and with contractors
  • Sound knowledge and practical application of WH&S principles and the Work Health and Safety legislation
