Job Title: Horticulturist

We are seeking a skilled Horticulturist to join our team in maintaining and improving gardens, parks, and other landscaped areas.

The ideal candidate will have relevant tertiary qualifications in Horticulture or a related field and experience in garden maintenance. They must also possess skills necessary to fulfill the role, responsibilities, duties, and competency requirements of the position.

  • Main Responsibilities:
  • Maintain and improve gardens, including annuals, native & non-native, high profile, traffic facilities, and other landscaped areas, in accordance with service requirements, service agreements, rosters, and programs.
  • Provide recommendations for mulching, watering, maintenance, embellishment, and improvement and implement as required.
  • Provide on-the-job skills development and training to staff.
  • Undertake risk and hazard assessments of all areas under the crew's control and take corrective action where necessary.
  • Identify, report, and rectify landscape deficiencies, especially in the area of garden and landscape area maintenance.
  • Provide assistance and advice to management, staff, customers, and the community when necessary.
  • Ensure all works under your control are completed within timeframes.
  • Finalize completion of works requests as allocated.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Qualifications:
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Horticulture or a similar relevant field.
  • Licenses:
  • Current Class C Driver's License.
  • Certifications:
  • Chemical Users Accreditation Certificate or equivalent.
  • Experience:
  • Experience in garden maintenance.
