Civil Construction Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Civil Construction Specialist to join our team in the Government sector. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient provision of roads and stormwater construction and maintenance.
The ideal candidate will have experience in operating a range of heavy equipment, including loaders, backhoes, excavators, rollers, water carts, skid steers, flocons, and drainage maintenance machinery. You will demonstrate exceptional proficiency in the safe use of these machines and ensure all operational procedures are executed with precision and adherence to safety standards.
- You will construct and maintain roads, footpaths, kerbs, and gutters, as well as pits and stormwater infrastructure to the highest possible standards within the allocated resources.
- Undertake work according to established practices, procedures, and standards.
- Operate and maintain plant equipment in accordance with City Safe Work Planning and safety guidelines.
- Interpret and understand plans.
- Complete all assigned work according to established rosters and work orders, including asset feedback information.
- Report infrastructure defects.
The successful candidate will possess:
- National Police Clearance.
- WA HR Driver's Licence.
- Experience in civil construction and maintenance.
- Experience operating a variety of heavy equipment.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to work well in a crew environment and understanding of appropriate workplace behaviours.
- The ability to resolve general problems as they arise on the job.
- Understanding of work safety issues relevant to the role.
- BASIC traffic management experience.
Desirable qualifications include:
- Previous experience in one or more areas: asphalt laying (road surfacing), concrete finishing, stormwater infrastructure construction, operating large plant, working safely in the construction industry, white card, traffic control ticket (12 months currency).
- Certificate II or III in civil construction.
- Working with high-pressure water, pipe laying, confined space entry and rescue, working at heights, service location and gas testing.
