Job Title: Tool Design Engineer

As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and developing tooling solutions that support the manufacture of aircraft components and assemblies.

The incumbent will investigate and resolve tooling issues including new and modified tooling designs, tooling dispositions, preparation of tooling use instructions, and the provision of technical support to Tooling Quality Assurance.

  • Investigate and resolve tooling issues in a timely manner.
  • Assess and dispose of Tool Non-Conformance issues.
  • Develop and prepare tooling designs and drawings for both new and modified production tooling.
  • Maintain tool configuration control through effective use of the BAA TRACS database system.
  • Provide technical support to Tool Quality Assurance, including analysis and verification of data produced by coordinate measuring machines.
  • Liaise with internal and external suppliers to achieve timely and cost-effective tool modification/manufacture.
  • Ensure compliance with government and state legislation and regulations related to Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) requirements.
  • Deliver all work assignments in an effective and efficient manner.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
Technical Skills
  • Experience using CATIA V5 software is favorable.
Soft Skills
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills.
  • Exposure to Quality Assurance processes and procedures.
  • Understanding of OH&S implications within the field.
  • Familiarity with use of email, databases, Internet, and Microsoft Windows & Office suite of Tools.
