Job Title: People Strategy Lead

This is a dynamic role within the Australian Defence Force where you'll play a key part in shaping people capability, driving training excellence, and influencing outcomes that matter.

As People Strategy Lead, you will lead the delivery of people and training strategies across the partnership.

The ideal candidate will have proven success managing a HR Business Partner function, strong background in delivering HR services and training in corporate and/or public sector settings, broad expertise across all HR functions including employee relations, change management, diversity & inclusion, compensation & benefits, organisational development, and training, exceptional leadership, emotional intelligence, and stakeholder engagement skills, collaborative approach with a solutions-focused mindset, resilient, adaptable, and thrives in fast-paced, evolving environments, excellent communication, consulting, coaching, and presentation skills, and strong decision-making and problem-solving capabilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Provide strategic advice to senior leaders on organisational design, workforce strategy, and leadership capability.
  2. Partner with Heads of Function to align people and culture initiatives with business priorities and co-design solutions that drive performance, engagement, and operational excellence.
  3. Lead the People & Culture strategy, ensuring it reflects organisational values, future workforce needs, and enterprise growth objectives.
  4. Embed behavioural competencies across the employee lifecycle to build a consistent, high-performance, values-led culture.
  5. Oversee all aspects of HR delivery, including workforce planning, talent acquisition, employee relations, succession, and compliance.
  6. Drive the Learning & Development agenda and elevate leadership capability across the organisation, embedding coaching and growth mindsets.
  7. Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion, leading enterprise programs such as Indigenous participation, gender equity, and veteran employment.
Candidate Profile:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Human Resource Management or related field.
