Senior Parole Support Specialist

Job Description:

The Parole Board Queensland is an independent authority that exercises its statutory functions and powers independently from influence by Queensland Corrective Services (QCS). As a decision-making body, the Board receives information from various sources and scrutinizes it to maintain public confidence in the parole decision-making process.

The Secretariat is a business unit established under the Community Corrections and Specialist Operations division in QCS. It supports the Board through administrative and legal services in accordance with QCS' obligations.

We are seeking a legal professional to provide authoritative advice on case law, legislative governance, and risk mitigation in complex and sensitive legal matters. The role requires strategic thinking, leadership, and clear communication skills to drive effective and accountable decision-making across the Board's operations.

Responsibilities include preparing legal reports, correspondence, and briefing notes; liaising with Crown Law and other legal providers; conducting rigorous legal research and analysis; and appearing in the Supreme Court for directions hearings.

Key qualifications include sound judgment, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively to deliver timely and high-quality legal support.
