Join to apply for the Graduate Legal Officer role at Queensland Corrective Services

Parole Board Queensland was established as an independent authority and its statutory functions and powers are exercised independent from influence by Queensland Corrective Services (QCS). As an independent decision-making body, the Board receives information from a range of people, service providers and organisations. The Board scrutinizes the information it is provided and maintains public confidence in the parole decision-making process through transparency in its processes. We need you to have strong problem-solving skills, interpersonal and negotiation skills, the ability to meet the challenges of working in a demanding work environment, provide legal advice on Parole Board Queensland activities and processes, recommend outcomes and decisions, emerging or current case law, legislative governance and risk mitigation.

Your day to day will be ensuring the Legal Services Unit supports the Board through assisting colleagues with the preparation of timely advice, reports, correspondence and briefing notes on legal issues, ensuring a consistent, coordinated and effective approach to the provision of legal services to the Board and administrative support. You will also play a key role in cultivating a team culture that upholds strong morale and embraces diversity as a core value.

Choosing a career at QCS will give you the opportunity to develop your skills within an environment that provides the highest standards of service delivery through diligence, efficiency, collaboration, sharing of knowledge and supporting our coworkers, stakeholders, community, prisoners and offenders.
