Job Summary

The Aviation Meteorologist role is responsible for delivering a suite of products and services to aviation users, preparing and issuing forecasts and warnings from the Melbourne Airport Forecasting Centre.

This position requires experience in operational meteorological service delivery, with a Basic Instruction Package for Meteorologists qualification and Aeronautical Meteorological Forecaster competency.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain a suite of products and services for aviation users
  • Prepare and issue forecasts and warnings as required
  • Contribute to the development of forecast policy and collaborate with other meteorologists
  • Liaise with customers and service partners and provide briefing services to support decision-making
  • Develop skills in scientific, technical, professional and personal fields
Requirements
  • BIP-M qualification
  • At least two years' experience in an operational meteorological service delivery environment
  • Aeronautical Meteorological Forecaster competency
  • Shift work and occasional overtime required
