Position Overview

We are seeking a Senior Motion Capture Technician to join our dynamic team. This role can be performed onsite or in a hybrid/remote capacity.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct data post-processing, including tracking, solving, and retargeting.
  • Assist the on-set motion capture team with preparation, recording sessions, and post-production wrap-up.
  • Support junior team members with technical inquiries and guidance.
  • Prepare actors for motion capture acquisition sessions.
  • Utilize in-house Unreal Engine virtual production tools during filming.
  • Monitor video references and/or Helmet Mounted Camera (HMC) feeds.
  • Ensure quality control during post-processing stages.
  • Establish and create mocap skeletons for solving and retargeting.
  • Review projects and provide constructive feedback for streamlining processes.
  • Promote positive working relationships and effective communication within production teams.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience as a motion capture technician.
  • Extensive knowledge of Maya and Motion Builder, with at least 5 years of experience.
  • Proficiency in motion capture data cleanup and implementation.
  • 3+ years of experience with Faceware or Dynamixyz, Vicon or Optitrack hardware/software.
  • 3+ years of experience with Unreal Engine.
  • Experience in the live performance industry, particularly in motion capture settings.
  • Ability to work effectively with performers and models.
  • Experience on at least one shipped AAA game title or film.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and adaptability to changing priorities.
  • Familiarity with various motion capture hardware and software.
  • Knowledge of scripting, particularly in Python, to enhance in-house motion capture workflows.
  • Excellent communication skills and a professional demeanor.
  • Exceptional time management and organizational abilities.
Preferred Skills
  • Understanding of broadcast systems and digital video transmission formats.
  • Knowledge of timecode, LTC, VITC standards, and general networking (UDP communication, TCP, 'livelink', etc.).
