Position Overview

We are seeking a Senior Motion Capture Technician to join our innovative team. This role can be performed onsite or in a hybrid/remote capacity, with consideration for international candidates.

Key Responsibilities
  • Post-process motion capture data, including tracking, solving, and retargeting.
  • Assist the on-set mocap team with preparation, recording sessions, and post-production wrap-up.
  • Provide technical support to junior team members regarding tracking queries.
  • Prepare actors for motion capture sessions.
  • Utilize in-house Unreal Engine tools during production shoots.
  • Monitor video references and Helmet Mounted Camera (HMC) feeds for quality assurance.
  • Conduct quality control on post-processing tasks.
  • Establish and create mocap skeletons for solving and retargeting purposes.
  • Review projects and offer feedback for streamlining processes.
  • Promote positive collaboration and communication within production teams.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience as a motion capture technician.
  • Extensive knowledge of Maya and Motion Builder, with at least 5 years of experience.
  • Proficiency in motion capture data cleanup and implementation.
  • Experience with Faceware or Dynamixyz, Vicon, or Optitrack hardware/software for over 3 years.
  • Familiarity with Unreal Engine for at least 3 years.
  • Experience in the live performance industry, particularly in motion capture, for 3 years.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and adaptability to changing priorities.
  • Excellent communication skills and a professional demeanor.
  • Exceptional time management and organizational skills.
Preferred Skills
  • Understanding of broadcast systems and digital video transmission formats.
  • Knowledge of timecode standards (LTC, VITC) and general networking principles.
  • Proficiency in scripting, particularly in Python, to enhance in-house motion capture workflows.
