Job Overview

This is a permanent full-time or part-time appointment with the possibility of extensions and/or permanency.

The Pharmacy Technician participates in drug distribution services, inventory control, dispensing, stores procedures, PBS claim processing and undertakes specific duties as required.

  • Participates in drug distribution services, inventory control, dispensing, stores procedures, and PBS claim processing.
  • Undertakes specific duties as required to ensure the smooth operation of the pharmacy.
Responsibilities
  1. Assists pharmacists with dispensing medication, patient counseling, and other pharmacy-related tasks.
  2. Accurately receives, stores, and dispenses medications, ensuring timely delivery to patients.
  3. Processes prescriptions, maintains accurate records, and ensures compliance with regulatory requirements.
  4. Provides exceptional customer service to patients, healthcare professionals, and other stakeholders.
  5. Maintains a clean and organized workspace, adhering to infection control guidelines and safety protocols.
Requirements
  • Demonstrated relevant pharmacy experience, including experience in drug distribution, dispensing or manufacturing services.
  • Working knowledge of PBS and its application in the community and hospital sectors.
  • Well-developed oral and written communication skills to effectively interact with clients and other hospital staff.
  • Effective interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills to work flexibly and co-operatively in a team environment.
  • Current knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety and Risk Management principles.
Selection Criteria
  • E1: Demonstrated relevant pharmacy experience and working knowledge of PBS.
  • E2: Knowledge and skills in computing systems, especially those relevant to hospital pharmacy.
  • E3: Well-developed oral and written communication skills.
  • E4: Effective interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills.
  • E5: Current knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety and Risk Management.
