About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the mental health system of the Australian Defence Force (ADF). As a Psychiatrist in the ADF, you will be part of a multi-disciplinary team providing clinical leadership and expertise in the prevention, detection, management, and treatment of mental health disorders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Policies and Procedures: Develop, review, and implement policies and procedures supporting the prevention, detection, management, and treatment of mental health disorders at all levels.
  • Training and Development: Support the training and development of medical, nursing, and allied health professionals in the prevention, detection, assessment, and management of mental illness within the ADF.
  • Collaborative Case Meetings: Coordinate and participate in collaborative case meetings involving non-clinical commanders responsible for the welfare of their subordinates.
  • Critical Incident Response: Oversee the delivery of mental health support to critical incidents involving real, perceived, or potential trauma to ADF personnel and civilians.
  • Continuous Improvement: Contribute to the continuous improvement of the ADF mental health system through research and collaboration with various agencies.
  • Research Translation: Translate research findings into action within Army to enhance and maintain capability.
About You

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Psychiatrist who can provide expert advice and guidance on mental health matters. As a Medical Specialist Officer in the Royal Australian Army Medical Corps, you will be classed as a MML4 Medical Officer.
