Senior Risk Lead Role

HSBC Australia is offering a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the financial industry.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Enterprise risk stewardship involves providing independent oversight and effective challenge to the wholesale business on the application of the risk management framework, including risk control assessments and incidents.
  • Risk stewardship with respect to environmental social governance (ESG) and reputational risk-related policies.
  • Manage climate risk programs and act as lead for governance and risk management workstreams, and the risk and compliance lead for other workstreams, including mandatory disclosures.
  • Ownership of all reporting as required to formal committees and forums, including ownership of the ESG forum and managing the secretariat.
  • Lead the development and implementation of human rights risk assessment and controls across HSBC Australia and New Zealand.
  • Provide subject matter expert advisory support for ESG and reputational risk-related matters, including preparation of the annual modern slavery statement.
  • Enhance and implement the reputational risk framework across HSBC Australia and New Zealand.

Requirements:

  • Seasoned professionals with finance industry experience in senior risk or compliance roles, which must include significant ESG and wholesale business-related experience.
  • Ability to work directly with executive committee stakeholders.
  • Ability to clearly articulate business and regulatory implications of analysis and findings.
  • Experience of interpreting and analysing large volumes of information and data, providing succinct summaries for management.
  • Ability to guide and structure the bank's reputational and sustainability risk.
  • In-depth understanding and expertise of group and industry developments in risk.
  • Confidence and knowledge to influence and challenge senior levels on risk management issues.
  • Resilient, steadfast, and completion-driven self-starters.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, able to work collaboratively in teams.
