About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Manager to join our Public Affairs and Government Relations team at Standards Australia. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for enhancing our relationships and influence with governments and other stakeholders, driving positive outcomes for the community, our members, customers, and business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive Public Affairs and Government Relations strategy to advance our business interests and reputation.
  • Monitor and analyze developments at the federal, state, and territory levels relevant to our business, identifying opportunities and potential impacts.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key government contacts, Members of Parliament, and government departments and agencies.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure a holistic approach to engagement and communication.
  • Provide strategic advice to our leadership team on government relations and policy matters.
  • Manage and maintain our official public policy positions and statements.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of key advocacy messages and campaigns.
  • Produce high-quality research, reports, and analysis to inform our policy and advocacy efforts.
Requirements
  • 5-10 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in a government relations or public affairs context.
  • Tertiary-level qualifications in a relevant discipline, such as politics, public policy, or communications.
  • Excellent analytical and writing skills, with the ability to assess and critically evaluate information.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, including the ability to manage high-profile stakeholders involved in complex negotiations.
  • Ability to initiate and manage projects, with a focus on delivering results.
  • Willingness to travel frequently for key meetings and events.
