Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Engagement Specialist

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring effective case management to address cultural issues and facilitate program referrals during sentencing.
- Ensuring effective case management to address cultural issues and facilitate program referrals during sentencing;
- Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to manage the progression of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander prisoners through the correctional system, including assessment and report provision to sentence management and professional staff;
- Building relationships with prisoners' families, management, Queensland Corrective Services staff, Government and non-Government welfare agencies and service providers to meet prisoner individual, social and cultural needs;
- Coordinating regular Elder visits to correctional centres and providing welfare services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander offenders for additional support during challenging times;
- Contributing to a safe environment for staff, visitors and offenders. Maintaining family contact for offenders and facilitating engagement with community groups/networks for post-release support structures.
