Randwick, Australia Diraq Pty Ltd Full time

About Diraq Pty Ltd:

Diraq Pty Ltd aims to redefine scalable quantum computing and bring practical commercial applications to the world via billions of qubits on single chips, compared to the hundreds of qubits that exist today. We are currently expanding our team to create an end-to-end quantum computing company – providing quantum hardware and software as a full stack, cloud accessible service.

Our proprietary technology, backed by 20 years of research and over USD $142M in funding across 11 patent families, allows us to scale using existing silicon CMOS manufacturing and existing foundries, to enable a faster and cheaper road to market.

We are a team of world leading scientists, engineers, and business professionals who, with our existing IP and partnerships with global technical and commercial partners, will build the quantum ecosystem of the future and enable the creation of significant economic returns across the value chain.

We are moving at speed to achieve our Phase 1 technical milestones. Our journey is more than just ambitious growth—it is the realisation of our vision, backed by the solid support of venture capital, and delivered by our remarkable team.

Role Overview:

We are looking for a talented and highly motivated Operations Director to join our growing team. Reporting directly to the Chief of Staff, you will be responsible for leading and scaling our day-to-day operations, ensuring efficient processes, and driving execution across the business.

This role requires a blend of strategic thinking, hands-on execution, and a deep understanding of business operations in a fast-paced startup environment. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, to build and implement best practices in order to optimise operations, and support the company's growth trajectory.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, draft, and implement scalable processes, workflows, and operational frameworks to support the startup's growth and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to standardise and optimise key operational activities.
  • Establish and enforce company-wide policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and alignment with industry best practices.
  • Lead the execution of daily operations, identifying opportunities for improvement and driving initiatives to enhance productivity and efficiency.
  • Implement procurement strategies, and oversee vendor selection, negotiation, and relationship management, ensuring service quality and cost-effectiveness.
  • Drive key operational and strategic projects, from concept to implementation, ensuring alignment with the company's growth objectives.
  • Ensure timely and accurate internal communication across the business, updating teams on operational changes, policy updates, and key initiatives.
  • Identify, analyse and monitor all potential operational risks in the company, and develop and implement strategies to mitigate them.
  • Contribute to a positive team culture and foster a collaborative working environment.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum 6 of years of managerial experience in operations management in a startup (preferably deep tech field), or commercial environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent organisational and project management abilities, and exceptional communication and leadership skills.
  • Self-starter with a strong sense of ownership and a willingness to learn and grow within a fast-paced start-up environment.
  • Detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and deliver high-quality results under tight deadlines.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with a proactive approach to challenges and opportunities.
  • Demonstrated capability to manage and inspire a team.
  • A demonstrated knowledge in quantum technologies is a bonus, but not a necessity. The successful candidate should, however, have a genuine interest in emerging technologies.

What We Offer:

  • Competitive salary and benefits package.
  • Opportunity to work with a talented team of professionals and world experts in the quantum computing field and a distinguished senior leadership team and Board.
  • You will develop a deep understanding in a range of areas including the interaction of innovation and government, venture capital and corporate governance.
  • A dynamic, supportive, and innovative work environment with opportunities for personal and professional growth.
  • Exposure and education from leading experts in the ground-breaking technologies that are shaping the future of quantum computing.
