Job Summary

We are seeking a seasoned Tax Compliance Specialist to oversee sales and use tax compliance across various states. This role involves coordinating and filing monthly and quarterly returns, as well as administering and optimizing the use of Sales Tax Software.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate and file sales and use tax returns across multiple states, ensuring timely submissions and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Administer and optimize the use of Sales Tax Software to streamline processes and improve efficiency.
  • Evaluate customer exemption certificates, communicate with clients regarding discrepancies or needed corrections, and provide guidance on exemptions and certifications.
  • Prepare documentation for external audits involving sales, use, and property tax matters, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Compile data and assist third-party preparers in personal property tax filings, maintaining high levels of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Track business license renewals, verify compliance with annual report obligations, and ensure accurate and timely submissions.
  • Support the development of annual tax budgets by providing estimates and insights related to sales and property taxes, helping inform strategic decisions.
  • Evaluate occupational tax obligations to ensure compliance and accurate filing, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.
  • Conduct in-depth tax research and analysis on issues related to sales, use, and other indirect taxes, providing expert recommendations and solutions.
Requirements:
  • 5+ years of experience in sales and use tax compliance, with a strong understanding of regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field, with a focus on taxation and compliance.
  • Proficiency in using Sales Tax Software, with experience in administering and optimizing its use to improve efficiency and reduce errors.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
