Job Title: Transport Logistics Coordinator

We are seeking an experienced and skilled transport logistics coordinator to join our team.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of coordinating the smooth running of fleet movements, utilizing transportation management systems (TMS) to optimize logistics and ensure timely delivery of materials.

This role is responsible for direct, manage, and coordinate logistics, transfer, transportation, and customer service activities, achieving excellence in all facets of transport allocation and weighbridge operations safely, effectively, and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist with efficiently coordinating and allocating trips for drivers locally.
  • Ensure safe work practices and equipment are used at all times, and documentation, inspections, and current practices are in accordance with safety management plans, policies, procedures, and other regulatory guidelines.
  • Promote, maintain, and continually improve workplace safety programs to ensure safe work conditions exist for all employees, customers, and visitors.
  • Respond to emergency situations on an on-call basis.
  • Plan and allocate transfer scheduling and driver runs on a daily basis for the pickup and delivery of material, ensuring full utilization of fleet.
  • Coordinate and monitor management systems to ensure the most efficient use of drivers and vehicles to meet set schedules.
  • Assign rosters for employees under direct supervision to run efficiently, at optimal transfers, with minimal overtime.
  • Assign daily duties for drivers, contract drivers, and weighbridge operators to ensure transport division and weighbridges are adequately staffed.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor inductions and onboarding plans for new employees.
  • Completion of probationary reviews within designated timeframes.
  • Identify non-performance and implement performance improvement measures.
  • Prepare and monitor daily production reports to continuously improve throughput, reduce costs/expenses, and increase profitability and maximum metal recovery.
  • Implement operational goals based on monthly projections set by management.
  • On-time and accurate completion of monthly and yearly stock takes.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience as a transport allocator is essential.
  • Demonstrated experience in the transport industry is highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal).
  • Ability to lead, direct, and encourage others towards achieving results.
  • Sound working knowledge of fatigue management and road transport regulations.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Ability to prioritize and work under pressure.
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
