Operations Manager Job Description

We're seeking an experienced Operations Manager to oversee the launch and operation of our new micro-cannery facility.

As a key member of our team, you will lead the commissioning of equipment, develop and manage a high-performing processing team, and drive daily operations to achieve excellence in safety, quality, and efficiency.

  • Lead the recruitment, training, and development of a brand-new processing team from day one.
  • Build a positive and productive work environment that prioritizes safety, quality, and efficiency.
  • Mentor and motivate staff to grow with the business and contribute to its success.
  • Oversee daily operations across seafood processing, cannery, and retail activities, ensuring seamless integration and coordination.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including HACCP, OH&S, and company quality protocols.
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and streamline workflows.
  • Plan, coordinate, and deliver operational projects, including equipment commissioning and facility expansion, while working closely with external contractors and suppliers.
  • Monitor project timelines, budgets, and risks, providing regular updates to stakeholders.
  • Train and support staff in adopting new systems and processes, ensuring a smooth transition.
  • Track and analyze operational data, including production volumes, yields, costs, and efficiency metrics, to inform business decisions.
  • Collaborate with sales, marketing, and distribution teams to ensure demand meets supply, driving business growth and profitability.
  • Prepare and manage operational budgets, forecasts, and reporting, maintaining strong relationships with suppliers.
  • Provide strategic insights to shape long-term decisions and growth strategies, identifying opportunities for value-add, efficiency, and circular economy practices.
