Senior Laboratory Technician

Boral is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Laboratory Technician to join our team in Sydney. As a Senior Laboratory Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality and accuracy of materials testing, while contributing to the development and implementation of laboratory procedures and standards.
About the RoleWe are looking for an individual with a strong background in materials science and laboratory testing, who can work independently and as part of a team to achieve high-quality results. The successful candidate will have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to communicate complex technical information effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conducting materials testing and analysis, including sampling, preparation, and physical testing of construction materials
- Maintaining and calibrating laboratory equipment, including prescribed checks and calibrations
- Ensuring compliance with laboratory work instructions, test methods, and safety requirements
- Participating in the maintenance of the Laboratory NATA accreditation requirements
- Performing other duties as directed by the Section Head
We offer a competitive salary package, estimated at $80,000 - $110,000 per annum, depending on experience. In addition, we provide fully funded Cert IV in Laboratory Techniques and opportunities for professional development and growth.
RequirementsTo be successful in this role, you will need:
- A commitment to safety and quality, with a focus on delivering high-quality results
- Previous laboratory experience in soils and aggregates materials testing (desirable but not essential)
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in science or relevant disciplines (e.g., civil, chemical, or materials engineering)
- Well-developed skills and understanding of computer systems for monitoring and reporting data (especially Microsoft Word and Excel)
- Good time management and organisational skills, with the ability to cope with competing priorities and deadlines
- Knowledge of Australian and industry standards
- Strong analytical skills and a customer-focused approach
