Clinical Nurse Specialist Role Overview

Delivering community-based child and adolescent mental health nursing services, the Clinical Nurse Specialist provides individualised care to children, adolescents with mental health problems, and their families.

This role involves working in a dynamic team environment, providing assessment, case management, and therapy services to children, adolescents, and their families. The successful candidate will have experience in working with children, adolescents, and their families, as well as knowledge of emotional, behavioural, psychological, and psychiatric disorders.

The Clinical Nurse Specialist - Mental Health Child and Adolescent will be responsible for:

  • Providing high-quality clinical care to children, adolescents, and their families;
  • Developing and implementing individualised care plans;
  • Liaising with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care;
  • Providing education and support to families and carers;
  • Maintaining accurate records and reports.

Key Selection Criteria:

  • Experience in assessment, case management, and therapy of children, adolescents, and their families;
  • Knowledge and understanding of emotional, behavioural, psychological, and psychiatric disorders of children and adolescents;
  • Effective communication, liaison, and interpersonal skills;
  • Effective negotiation, problem-solving, analytical, and conflict resolution skills;
  • Experience in community work and liaison;
  • Sound knowledge of WA Mental Health Act 2014 and other relevant legislation;
  • Eligibility for / or possession of a current C or C-A Class drivers' licence or other specialised licence class.

Selection Process:
