The Job Description:

As a Consultant Anaesthetist, you will provide clinical expertise in anaesthesia, acute pain and perioperative medicine at the Royal Darwin Hospital and across the Top End Health Service.

The Royal Darwin Hospital is the principal tertiary hospital within the region, providing a broad range of referral services in all specialty areas to the Darwin urban population and serving the Top End of the NT, Western Australia and South-East Asia.

The hospital is a 345 bed tertiary hospital that services a population of over 142,000 in a catchment area including urban communities, regional hospitals and remote Aboriginal communities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-quality anaesthetic care to patients undergoing surgery or procedures.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans for patients with acute pain and perioperative medicine conditions.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care.
  • Contribute to the improvement of indigenous health in the region through education and research initiatives.

Requirements:

  • Applicants should be registered (or eligible for registration) as a specialist with the Medical Board of Australia.
  • Hold a Fellowship of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (FANZCA) or equivalent qualification as an overseas trained specialist.
  • Have completed training in either the UK, Ireland, Canada, USA (ABA certified) or New Zealand.
