About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and culturally sensitive Indigenous Family Liaison Officer to join our team at the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia. The successful candidate will work closely with judges and other court officials to provide support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families throughout the Court process.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families throughout the Court process
  • Refer families to additional support channels that are available from other organisations
  • Educate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities about the support that is available from the Courts and make or enhance links with those communities
Requirements
  • Good listener and communicator
  • Ability to use everyday language to explain formal processes
  • Empathy towards others who are experiencing a challenging and potentially distressing moment in their lives
  • Good links with local communities and ability to build on those links
