
Trauma-Informed Counsellor

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate counselling professional to join our Therapeutic Services Team in North West Tasmania.
This permanent role offers the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of victim-survivors of sexual assault and their loved ones.
Job DescriptionKey Responsibilities:
- Provide specialist clinical support and advocacy services to victim-survivors of sexual assault and their non-offending family members and support systems.
- Participate in outreach services and educational program delivery.
- Work with children and young people affected by sexual harm, supporting them and their families.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A minimum of a bachelor's degree in counselling, social work, psychology, or equivalent qualification.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the impacts and dynamics of sexual assault and experience in trauma-informed counselling.
- Experience working with and counselling adults, young people, and/or children who have been impacted by sexual assault and violence.
- The ability to effectively intervene, prioritise, and manage crisis situations.
- A commitment to inclusive practice and proven capacity to meet the diverse needs of clients.
- Ability to quickly acquire a working knowledge of Tasmanian legislation and policies pertaining to sexual assault, child protection, and family violence.
