Job Overview

This exciting opportunity involves joining a dynamic team of lawyers in a boutique law firm.

As an energy lawyer, you will have the chance to work on various projects related to planning, environment, native title, and energy and resources law.

  • Negotiating agreements for coal seam gas, mining, and exploration activities;
  • Providing advice to landholders about matters under the Water Act, including representation in the Land Court and assistance with Make Good Agreements;
  • Reviewing and advising on rural lease agreements, compulsory acquisition, and other related matters;
  • Carbon abatement and offset agreements;
  • Vegetation management; and
  • Water resources.

The role may also involve assisting in planning and environment and native title work undertaken by the firm.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert legal advice to clients on energy and resources-related matters;
  • Develop and implement strategies to achieve client objectives;
  • Collaborate with colleagues to deliver high-quality results;
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant laws and regulations;
  • Prepare and present complex legal documents and reports;
  • Communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders.
Requirements
  • Admitted to practice as a solicitor in Australia;
  • Postgraduate qualification in a relevant field;
  • Proven experience in energy and resources law or commercial, property, or rural/agribusiness law;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • A strong academic record and commitment to ongoing professional development.
