The Tackling Indigenous Smoking (TIS) Program Officer will lead initiatives to reduce smoking rates among Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. They will develop, implement, and evaluate collaborative activities that promote health and wellbeing.
This role involves promoting evidence-based smoking cessation programs, supporting local health promotion activities, and collecting data to inform program evaluation.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and implementing community-based initiatives to increase awareness of the risks associated with smoking and the benefits of smoke-free environments.
- Collaborating with stakeholders to design and deliver effective health promotion strategies, tailored to the needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
- Collecting and analysing data to inform program improvement and evaluation.
- Proven experience working in health promotion, community development, or public health.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, prioritising tasks and managing competing deadlines.
- Capacity to build strong relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and their leaders, respecting traditional culture and values.
