Key Role in Indigenous Smoking Control

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated individual to fill the role of TIS Program Officer. The successful candidate will play a vital part in our efforts to tackle smoking among Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

Job Description:

The TIS Program Officer will be responsible for developing and implementing collaborative activities aimed at reducing smoking rates among Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. This will involve working closely with local communities, health services, and other stakeholders to design and deliver effective programs that promote smoking cessation and support.

In this role, you will also work to enhance collaboration between TIS program officers across the region, participating in training and development programs, and networking opportunities to share best practices and stay up-to-date on the latest research and strategies.

You will need to have a proven track record of working within the health promotion, community development, or public health field, with experience in project management, community engagement, and stakeholder relationships. Your ability to take direction, determine priorities, and manage workloads effectively will be essential in meeting agreed timelines and objectives.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated experience in health promotion, community development, or public health.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in partnership with Indigenous communities, their leaders, and traditional cultures.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and project management skills.
