About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Youth Support Worker to join our team at The Salvation Army. As a key member of our Youth Services team, you will play a vital role in delivering practical and emotional support to young people who are homeless and in crisis.

Your primary responsibility will be to provide a safe, secure, and clean environment for our clients, while also working collaboratively with the wider team to achieve the best outcomes for young people.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop effective relationships with clients, ensuring they receive respectful, dignified, and confidential support.
  • Collaborate with staff members to ensure an effective team approach to program implementation and service delivery.
  • Plan, develop, and implement life skills programs and other initiatives to support clients.
  • Provide information and referral services to relevant organizations and individuals.
  • Assist clients in developing or re-establishing family and social networks.
Requirements
  • Qualification in social work, youth work, community work, or equivalent.
  • Driver's license.
  • Working with Children Card.
  • Current first aid certification or ability to obtain quickly.
  • Experience working with young people in crisis, particularly those experiencing homelessness.
  • Ability to work with diverse backgrounds and religions.
  • Desirable: understanding of issues faced by people experiencing homelessness, substance use disorders, mental health conditions, and other disabilities.
  • Effective communication and crisis intervention skills.
  • Competency in Microsoft Office.
