About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Planning Enforcement Officer to join our Planning Enforcement team at Merri-bek City Council. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for investigating planning complaints and ensuring that land use and development comply with the Merri-bek Planning Scheme, Planning Permits, and Section 173 Agreements.

You will work closely with internal and external stakeholders, including our Urban Planning, Environmental Health, and Building Services units, to achieve sustainable built form and land use outcomes for the Merri-bek community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Investigate and assess planning complaints and enforcement matters
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to achieve compliance with planning regulations
  • Provide information and assistance to the community in a clear and professional manner
  • Manage time effectively and work unsupervised
  • Hold a current Victorian Driver's Licence
Requirements
  • Tertiary qualification in Planning or a related field, or lesser formal qualification with substantial relevant experience
  • Demonstrated ability to investigate and assess planning enforcement matters
  • Advanced mediation, communication, and conflict resolution skills
  • Commitment to excellence in customer service and stakeholder relations
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
